Our Program Fundamentals

Our program fundamentals capture the core principles that shape and elevate every aspect of our early learning programs. They explain the ‘why’ behind how we design, organise, and deliver learning each day, and highlight the meaningful difference our approach offers children and families. These fundamentals guide all stages of our play-based curriculum, evolving thoughtfully to ensure strong connections, smooth transitions, and a continuous learning journey.

Children Are Capable, Curious Learners

We see every child as competent, capable, and full of potential. Their ideas, interests, and questions guide our curriculum, shaping meaningful learning experiences every day.

Relationships Come First

Secure, trusting relationships are the foundation of everything we do. Through consistent educators, small groups, and warm interactions, children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.

Play Is Powerful

Play is how children make sense of the world. Our environments invite exploration, creativity, and problem-solving, supporting cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

The Environment Is a Teacher

Our indoor and outdoor spaces are intentionally designed to inspire curiosity. Natural materials, open-ended resources, and flexible setups encourage children to investigate, create, and challenge themselves.

The Real World Is Our Classroom

Learning extends beyond our walls. Excursions, regular outings, and community visits — guided by children’s interests — help children spark curiosity, build connections, experience real-world learning, and develop a sense of belonging.

Teaching Is Thoughtful and Responsive

Educators observe, listen, and plan with intention. We scaffold learning by responding to children’s strengths, needs, and emerging ideas, creating continuous opportunities for growth.

Families Are Partners

We value families as children’s first teachers. Open communication, shared decision-making, and genuine partnerships ensure each child’s learning and wellbeing are supported holistically.

Evidence Guides Our Practice

Our approach is grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework and influenced by research, reflective practice, and quality improvement. Educators engage in ongoing professional development to ensure high-quality teaching.

Belonging, Agency, and Wellbeing

We empower children to make choices, express themselves, and influence their learning environment. A strong focus on wellbeing, emotional literacy, and self-regulation helps children thrive now and into the future.

A Culture of Quality and Leadership

Strong leadership, collaborative teamwork, and a commitment to excellence ensure our programs are consistently high-quality, innovative, and responsive to our community.

Where little minds explore and grow!

  • Our Curiosity Program is designed to spark wonder and joy in learning. Children are encouraged to follow their natural interests, ask questions, and investigate the world around them.

  • Using a play-based and Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, we create rich, open-ended environments filled with natural materials, sensory experiences, and imaginative play that invite exploration.

  • Educators observe, listen, and scaffold learning, supporting children to make connections, test ideas, and develop problem-solving skills — all while nurturing creativity and resilience.

  • Every day is an opportunity for discovery, as children develop the foundational skills, confidence, and love of learning that will last a lifetime.

Confident, independent, ready for the next step!

  • Our Transition to School Program helps children develop the social, emotional, and practical skills they need to thrive in school.

  • We focus on building independence, self-regulation, and confidence, while providing familiar routines and support to make the transition smooth.

  • Activities include group problem-solving, cooperative projects, and opportunities for children to practice decision-making and responsibility — all designed to foster secure attachments and emotional readiness, drawing on principles from the Circle of Security framework.

  • Children also engage in playful literacy and numeracy experiences, ensuring they are prepared for the academic and social aspects of school life.

  • Inspired by inquiry-based learning, children investigate natural phenomena, test ideas, and collaborate with peers to find solutions.

  • Activities include simple science experiments, coding and robotics introductions, construction challenges, and interactive technology projects — all designed to spark curiosity and a love of discovery.

  • This program not only builds STEM skills but also fosters persistence, collaboration, and resilience.

Stories, words, and a love of reading!

  • Our Early Literacy & Literature Program nurtures language, imagination, and communication skills. Children engage with books, stories, and interactive reading experiences to develop vocabulary, comprehension, and narrative skills.

Music
and Arts

Creativity in every beat and brushstroke!

  • The Music and Arts Program encourages children to express themselves creatively through sound, movement, and visual arts.

  • Children explore music, dance, drama, and visual arts using a process-focused approach, where experimentation and self-expression are valued over perfection.

  • Activities include rhythm and movement games, instrument exploration, painting, sculpture, and collaborative art projects.

  • This program supports emotional expression, creativity, fine motor development, and confidence, giving every child the opportunity to shine in their own way.

Learning beyond the walls!

  • Our Beyond the Classroom program takes learning out of the classroom and into the real world, where children’s curiosity leads the way.

  • We regularly plan excursions and outings based on the children’s interests, questions, and ideas, giving them opportunities to explore, investigate, and learn in meaningful, real-world contexts.

  • Activities may include visits to local parks, farms, museums, community spaces, and nature areas — all chosen to extend and enrich children’s learning experiences.

  • By connecting classroom learning with the wider world, children develop problem-solving skills, social confidence, environmental awareness, and a sense of adventure.

  • Every outing is designed to be engaging, hands-on, and reflective of children’s voices, ensuring that learning is always relevant, exciting, and child-centered.
